Third Eye Meditation uses the center of imagination and intuition accessed by cultures for centuries to enter alpha brainwave states.
Brainwaves
Delta (0.5-4 Hz): deep sleep. Theta (4-7.5 Hz): light sleep dreaming deep meditation. Alpha (7.5-14 Hz): relaxation state — what this meditation targets. Beta (14-40 Hz): normal daily waking. Gamma (40+ Hz): peak performance and concentration.
Alpha is the "alert relaxation" state. The body rests while resources go to healing digestion and vital systems.
The Third Eye
The third eye strengthens imagination (the mind's eye). When you visualize a pink elephant that's the third eye. The more you practice the stronger it becomes. Highly recommended for artists therapists and anyone working with intuition or energy.
Step-by-step practice
Sit comfortably close eyes. Imagine a white screen between your eyes. Place a colored background with a number in the center. Chakra colors sequence: 7 Red → 6 Orange → 5 Yellow → 4 Green → 3 Blue → 2 Indigo → 1 Light violet. Wipe the screen with your right hand between each. Then numbers alone 10 down to 1. Hold the blank screen — you've entered alpha. Count back up 1-10 to return.
